Songs and Zombies (Still Dreaming)

Wow..  So I haven't blogged in a while. And I apologize for that. To the reader from Russia that read my blog this week: Sorry that it's not more entertaining. Maybe if I made up some action to my life it would be interesting...
Anywho! So since I last posted, a few things have happened. First: I played a show at Velour two weeks ago!  It was an amazing experience.  It was probably my best gig ever because everything clicked!  I was in a good mood, I had practiced, I was ready to rock and the audience was responsive.  Guys.  You have NO idea how important that is to a good show!  Concerts are always so much better when the audience is listening and laughing and really emotionally connecting to the performer.  I don't care if people talk, like some people do, as long as they're still responding to me.  It makes such a difference!  It boosts the performer's confidence which lets them crawl a little bit more out of their shell which then makes the audience connect even more and it's just an upward spiral from there!

So yes.  That was amazing.  Plus mom came out from Colorado for the show.  It was nice having a mom around again for a few days.  You don't realize how awesome they are until you have to take care of yourself. ug. Laundry?  Heck.  I'll just buy more clothes!  haha
Another exciting thing that happened was Halloween!  Guys.  Halloween is my favorite holiday ever.  You know why? because I love fall.  I love the leaves, I love scarfs, I love blankets, I love pumpkin bread, I love the grey sky.. I love Halloween decorations!  I only had a string of skeleton lights in our apartment and I was kind of really depressed about not having more decorations.  I think my roommates could tell that I was actually physically upset about it.  And they decided it would be a good idea to make more decorations.  So guess what they made?  Little ghosts made out of tampons!  Hahaha we then hung them up right outside our door.

We got quite a few complements.  haha  But then Tessa got a package in the mail and my mom bought me a couple decorations so we actually had a pretty good looking Halloween apartment!  I was satisfied.  But the best thing about Halloween this year was what we dressed up as: I was a zombie slayer and Chelan and Tessa were zombies!! (Candace was at a wedding. I would have been out numbered had she been an available zombie)  Everyone at the Halloween party we went to loved our group costume.  And afterwards, we had a little photo shoot together.

Needless to say, they turned out pretty awesome :]

After Halloween, all I've been up to is homework.  But that's college!  Midterms, papers, homework and art projects.  But I love being an art major.  It's a blast!  When most people say "homework" they mean they'll be in the library till all hours of the night.  I'm usually at home taking up the kitchen table with my paint, colored pencils, magazines, and pens.  I have no reason to complain :]

. . . . .

Something I'm going to start doing to make this blog interesting is making a short mix for all of my readers of the songs I can't seem to get enough of for the week.

This week's mix:
"Furr" by Blitzen Trapper ( >>the video<< is awesome!)
"Two-Headed Boy" by Neutral Milk Hotel
"Blue Spotted Tail" by Fleet Foxes
"Up In Flames" by Coldplay
"I've Got This Friend" by The Civil Wars
"Blue Skies" by Noah and the Whale

So there you have it!

Thank you to everyone!  You guys are the best :]

Love,
Lexi Lyon
