Cd's have arrived!!

Today I came in from gardening and saw 7 boxes stacked up by the front door. Mom smiled and said "grab a knife". So I ran to the boxes and cut them open to find hundreds of my CD's all wrapped up and stacked inside. Rows and rows of colorful CD's! I'm so excited to start getting these out to everyone! They look so amazing thanks to everyone who helped! Now I have something amazing to sell at my gigs or to show off to friends or even just to say "look what I accomplished". It was a lot of hard work and I still have a lot of hard work in front of me, but I know it'll all be worth it. I'm so glad I've decided to take the risk :]

My Bucket List

So about a month ago I decided to create a Bucket List. A bucket list is simply a list of things you really want to accomplish in life. This can be things you want to accomplish in your area of work, adventures you want to have around the world, just random, or small things you want to do around your hometown. It just all depends on how crazy you want to go with it and if you want to realistically accomplish everything on your list and play it safe. I decided to be really random with it and do a bit of everything! Which seems to be how I am in every aspect of my life...

My Bucket List

  1. Write and produce an album
  2. Study art in Europe
  3. Go backpacking in the Rockies
  4. See the Aurora Borealis
  5. Create most of the art in my own home
  6. Earn my scuba diving license
  7. Put flowers on John Lennon's grave
  8. Learn how to cook from scratch
  9. Donate my hair to a cute bald kid
  10. Get a faux hawk
  11. Go whale watching
  12. Serve on a mission trip somewhere
  13. Write a song for each child I have
  14. Visit each continent
  15. Read the whole Lord of the Rings series
  16. Learn how to speak French
  17. Hold a sign in the crowd at an NBA game
  18. Climb a major mountain
  19. Own a yellow Jeep Wrangler
  20. Live somewhere new and foreign for a part of my life
  21. Watch every Harry Potter movie in a week’s time
  22. See the Pieta in person
  23. Get married and start a family
  24. Learn to roll sushi in Tokyo
  25. Own every Beatles album
  26. Eat pizza in Italy
I have successfully completed number one already and that album will be coming out in July! I'm planning on hiking in the Rockies soon and I'm going on a cruise with my dad to Alaska in August! I'm really going to try for these. I'm going to go all out and try to really live my life.

Discovering a New Band

So this last Friday, my brothers and I went to go see Jack's Mannequin at The Black Sheep in Colorado Springs. And I fell in love with the opening band. They were so quirky and they really knew how to capture an audience. They told the background story or idea behind their songs, they offered a temporary tattoo to anyone who would submit an idea for a title to their next album and they even took a picture of the group, put it on their Facebook page and told everyone from the concert to tag themselves in it. They were honestly one the best I have ever seen in the way that they got everyone in the audience to participate and feel like they were intimately connected with the group themselves. I want to make everyone who hears my music feel like that! Because that's what it's all about anyway, right?
This is Matthew Frankel, the drummer, from Lady Danville and me, of course, sporting their t-shirt!

Books on my list to read

I'm currently reading "The Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand and I LOVE it! And it makes me realize how much I truly love to read. So I decided to make a list of books that I need to read after this one.

"On The Road" by Jack Kerouac

"Anthem" by Ayn Rand

"Life of Pi" by Yann Martel

"The Invention of Everything Else" by Samantha Hunt

"Radiohead and Philosophy" by Forbes and Reisch

"Talking to Girls About Duran Duran" by Rob Sheffield

Oh and the Whole Lord of the Rings series!

If anyone has suggestions, please leave them here for me :]

It's all the little things

Some people go through this life without actually noticing that they're living. I want to make it my new project to make sure that I'm living, that I'm taking note, that I'm appreciating the small thing. Because it's all the little things that really make us happy.
